Converting your pictures to .jpg files

Here's how to set the right format and size...

(these examples are from Adobe Photoshop 5 - your software may be slightly different)

1.

With your photograph open, go to "Image" and then "Image Size".

Set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch, then set the image size. 400 pixels wide is about right.

Close the "Image Size" menu, and go to "Save As". Select your photo and make sure the format is set to "JPEG". Make sure your filename ends with ".jpg". You may have to type this in yourself.

4.

When you save, PhotoShop asks what compression option you want.

"3 (Medium)" is fine.
